Bryan Adams writes new song about friend Amy Winehouse

Since Bryan Adams invited singer Amy Winehouse to his luxury Caribbean villa for the New Year, the pair have struck up an unlikely friendship. So much so that it is reported that the Summer Of '69 rocker has penned a song about Amy for his latest album.

Lyrics for the new track, which include the words "Nobody saw the tears in your silk and lace, the scarred little kid behind your face", show just how much the 48-year-old has taken Amy under his wing. Titled Flower Grown Wild, it appears on Bryan's recently released disc 11.

It seems that Bryan's song has hit a chord with Amy who, the Daily Mirror reports, has agreed to sing it on stage with the Canadian star when he begins his tour later this year.

Since her success at the recent Brit and Grammy award ceremonies, the soulful 24-year-old has been inundated with requests to perform. The jazz sensation has just been asked by Hollywood stars George Clooney and Julia Roberts to appear at a high-profile US event for a reported $1 million.

Anderson Cooper Says He Has Skin Cancer

NEW YORK (AP) -- CNN's Anderson Cooper was back at work Wednesday after minor surgery two days earlier to remove a cancerous mole from underneath his left eye.

There was no indication the skin cancer had spread, spokeswoman Shimrit Sheetrit said.

He blogged about his procedure Wednesday, when he was following Barack Obama, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, for a special edition of Cooper's nightly news show.

"I hadn't planned on mentioning this," said Cooper, 40. "But I still have stitches and you'll no doubt notice them. ... Don't want you to think I got into a fistfight with Charlie Rose."

Proud mum Halle 'doing great' after giving birth to baby girl

Halle Berry is reported to be "doing great" after she and her model beau Gabriel Aubry became parents to a baby girl in LA on Sunday.
The proud pair haven't yet decided what to call their bundle of joy. However, the Oscar winner has said the baby will be taking her dad's surname. "We know the last name will be Aubry!" she announced.
And intuitive Halle probably won't be too surprised at the sex of the new arrival. In a recent interview she revealed she suspected she was having a girl because Stevie Wonder's Isn't She Lovely kept playing on her iPod. "For some reason that song keeps coming up on my iPod... even though it's on shuffle!" she revealed. "We're like, 'It's a girl! It's a girl!'."
Their daughter is the first child for both 41-year-old Halle and Gabriel, 32. The couple began dating after meeting during a Versace photoshoot in November 2005.

Ashley Alexandra Dupre's Family Heartbreak

Before she was known as "Kristen", the woman at the center of the prostitution scandal that forced New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's resignation, 22-year-old Ashley Alexandra Dupré was simply Ashley Youmans, a small town girl from the New Jersey shore who yearned for her father and struggled with her family's split.
After her parents, William Youmans and Carolyn Capalbo, broke up, Ashley "used to cry about that and say how much she missed him," childhood friend Erica Kane tells PEOPLE. Adding to the heartache was her older brother Kyle, 26, who was incarcerated after a 2000 drug arrest, according to the Asbury Park Press. (More recently, on Monday, Kyle pleaded guilty to heroin charges and is expected to be sentenced to probation on April 14, according the newspaper.)
But after her mother married oral surgeon Michael DiPietro, Ashley, who was in elementary school at the time, would say even more so "how much she missed her dad. She always used to talk about that," says Kane. "[Her life] looked perfect. She was a beautiful girl, boys thought she was pretty and she got along with everybody. But she wanted her real family. She wanted her real father and her mother together and her brother back in the house. She wanted everybody under the same roof."

A Comfortable Lifestyle

Still, friends say Ashley had a comfortable life with her stepfamily, in a spacious house in tony Wall Township, N.J. A popular student, former classmates recall that Ashley was driven to school in a Jaguar, that she dressed well and made friends on the cheerleading squad.
"Ashley was a good girl. She was a sweetheart, everyone loved her," says a childhood pal. "She had a good heart." And a good voice. Bringing friends to her house to play with the karaoke machine in her room, Ashley would belt out songs by Brandy, the source says. Adds Kane: "She made up this whole dance to Madonna's 'Express Yourself.' We used to hang out in her play room at her house and just dance around to that song."

Moving to North Carolina
But once in high school, something changed. In her sophomore year, she abruptly left home to move in with her dad and his new wife, attending Manteo High School in the Outer Banks in North Carolina. "It was my decision," Ashley wrote on her MySpace page. "And I've never looked back."
"She was a normal cool girl," says former boyfriend Wayne Hunter, who dated Ashley until 2003. "She wasn't a saint, but I would put her better than a lot of girls that I've known. [The recent scandal] has surprised me because she wasn't really like that."
While Ashley was popular with the boys, she had trouble making female friends while there. "She was the hottest girl in town when she was here and all the other girls gave her hell," says Hunter. "They were jealous. The girls wouldn't hang out with her. It was ridiculous. The girls here were really mean to her."

Big City Dreams
With hopes of a career in the music industry, Ashley moved to New York City after high school. "She told me she got a nice little apartment and was just starting out slow, trying to make her way up in whatever she could do," says Hunter.
Ashley took jobs as a cocktail waitress at hot spots like Retox and Pink Elephant to pay the bills while she recorded songs like "Move Ya Body" and "What We Want" in her free time, and booked gigs performing at clubs like China Club and Remote Lounge.
The aspiring singer became embroiled in the nightlife scene. "She'd roll around with an elite, older, upper echelon of men in Manhattan society, all the 'players' in nightlife and entertainment," says a source. "She would go out of town now and then but said she was working on music projects."

Unexpected Fame
Now that her alleged involvement with Emperors Club V.I.P. has been exposed, "she's just trying to work through it," says high school friend Joe Pawlak, who remains in touch with Ashley. "We're just trying to keep her head up and keep her strong, have her look at this as a positive. People make mistakes. All you can do is try to go on, grow from the experience."

Spears Sparks New Rules at UCLA Medical Center

Last week there were reports that UCLA Medical Center was seriously considering terminating at least 13 employees and suspending another 6 physicians for snooping through Britney Spears' confidential files.

Not only has the hospital stood by their word (12 employees were fired) they are also setting new rules and regulations "to enhance patient privacy and confidentiality", reports the Los Angeles Times newspaper.

All cell phones and laptops are officially banned from the hospital in order to avoid patient information getting leaked. We're surprised that from the 20+ employees that were caught snooping through her files, there was no juicy information leaked.

Lindsay Lohan has fit over Paris Hilton

Lindsay Lohan with Claus Hjelmbak at the Scandinavian Style Mansion on March 14.
Inviting a tabloid vixen to hype your product can be a risky business.
Let's start with Lindsay Lohan. Last week, the "Mean Girls" star was beckoned to an L.A. event to promote Scandinavian products. But instead of finding Birkenstocks and Viking helmets, she discovered the fete also touted the accessory line of her nemesis, Paris Hilton!
Lindsay looked like she was ready to hurl one of Thor's thunderbolts at the heiress, according to snitches. Lohan's handlers quickly asked organizers to take down backdrop ads with Hilton's name.
"Why would Lindsay ever walk down a carpet of another celebrity's fashion line when she was never told before the event?" a Lohan pal tells us.

Claus Hjelmbak, owner of the Scandinavian Style Mansion, tells Life & Style, "The drama was unnecessary."
Lohan's rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, says the actress has since received a letter of apology from organizers. Zelnick also refutes a claim that Linds pitched a hissy while shooting a Visa Swap commercial because someone served her a burrito with onions: "She doesn't eat on shoots."
Meanwhile, the owners of Room Service have discovered what it's like to work with Kim Kardashian. The reality star had received half of a promised $5,000 to appear at the Manhattan hot spot last Saturday, sources tell us. But after arriving well after midnight, Kardashian refused to pose for photographers until she received the $2,500 balance. No cash, no flash.
What's more, says a source, "They offered her entourage Veuve Clicquot; she wanted Perrier Jouet. They offered her Fiji Water, she wanted Smart Water."
Around 2 a.m., after getting her money, she finally posed. Says a spy: "She acted like she had just won an Oscar."
Finally, organizers of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute gala on May 5 might want to keep an eye on Amy Winehouse. A museum rep confirms to us that Winehouse has been asked to perform at the opening of the Armani-sponsored "Superheroes" exhibit, co-chaired by George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Anna Wintour. But perhaps organizers haven't seen that recent photo of the supposedly rehabbed Grammy-winner toting a bottle of vodka, or the one of her arms bearing curious scratches.
Winehouse's rep assures us that the marks are from her kitty. As for the vodka, well, maybe it's a good thing the Costume Institute has also reached out to other performers.

Salma on her lifesaving work (and brand-new baby)

Longtime pal Eve Ensler talks with the dedicated activist and new mom about her crusade against violence and her long-distance love.

The first time I met Salma Hayek was in 2002, when she performed my play The Vagina Monologues at a benefit for my antiviolence movement, V-Day, at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. She was utterly terrified, and I was worried that the stage fright would paralyze her. Of course, the minute she walked out onto the stage and began performing a monologue called “My Short Skirt,” she brought the house down. What I remember about that performance are her legs, which were sexy and strong, and her accented voice, which was deep and commanding. Her energy was red-hot. It occurred to me that night that everything about Salma Hayek was “V”: voluptuous, vivacious and victorious. She is a person who leaves Mexico at the height of one career to begin another in the United States; who takes a risk producing Ugly Betty only to have it become a breakthrough television phenomenon; who grows her eyebrows and actually becomes Frida Kahlo; who says that she loves to wake up to watch her roses grow early in the morning. Glamorous and rugged, cutting-edge and totally traditional, she’s a fiercely feminine feminist. And now she is a mother. The same intensity and imagination she has brought to her art and her life, she now brings to her daughter, Valentina.
In the six years since that night at the Apollo, Salma and I have forged a friendship out of our mutual commitment to making the world safe for women and girls. It’s a friendship that has taken us around the world; we have stood together, spoken out together, cried together and had each other’s backs. On the tenth anniversary of V-Day, I sat down with Salma in the kitchen of her Los Angeles home to talk about her new role as mom to Valentina (whom she breast-fed while we spoke), her long-distance relationship with her fiancé, François, and our shared dedication to eradicating violence against women.

EVE ENSLER: You’ve been such a huge part of this movement. How did you come to care so deeply about the issue of ending the abuse of women and girls?

SALMA HAYEK: When I was 18 I had a friend who was so cool. She was a straight-A student, sophisticated, studying architecture in college, someone I really looked up to. I was convinced she would become the president of Mexico. Then she fell in love, and this strong, knowledgeable girl became a victim of abuse. It shocked me to see how she got into the cycle and how it stole her soul away. That’s when I realized it could happen to anyone.

EE: Has it ever happened to you?

SH: Not personally. But the first time I saw domestic violence firsthand was when I was in Mexico, taking a walk with my family, and we came upon a man beating up this woman. My father intervened and fought the man and won. I remember thinking, Oh my God, my father is a hero. Then the woman turned around and started beating up my father. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening. After that I became very intrigued with what makes a woman stay in an abusive relationship: How does her spirit break?

Rep: Katie Holmes Not Designing a Children’s Clothing Line

Katie Holmes is sticking to just acting for now.

OK! Magazine is reporting that the actress, 29, is so inspired by her daughter Suri (who turns 2 in April) that she is teaming with Giorgio Armani to design a kids collection.

But her rep tells Usmagazine.com, “Katie Holmes is not designing a children’s clothing line for Giorgio Armani.”

Still, Armani (who designed Holmes’ wedding dress) probably wouldn’t object to having the actress on his team.

Pam Anderson: I'm Not Dating

If at first, or second, or third, you don't succeed ... try Pamela Anderson's approach.
Thrice-married Anderson – now single again – tells Ellen DeGeneres on her show Thursday that she is not dating anyone.
Her attention, says Anderson, the mother of two boys (Brandon, 11, and Dylan, 10, whose father is Anderson's ex, Tommy Lee), is devoted to "just kids. That's taking up a lot of time."
Especially on her schedule. Says Anderson, "Usually I get in around 3 or 4 in the morning, and I'm up at 6:30 am with my kids making breakfast, 8 a.m. at school, and who washes their face?"
When Anderson, 40, drops the boys off at school, "People just must be flipping out that you are out there in a neon vest helping kids out of the car," suggests DeGeneres, 50.
"No," says Anderson, "but I get a lot of high fives. They think it's funny that I'm there doing that."
But, she says, "I'm a mom, [and] you have to do it and I love it."
When DeGeneres goads Anderson by talking about a previous show guest, The Bachelor's Matthew Grant, Anderson responds, " He seemed nice."
Is he Anderson's type? "He's handsome," the bombshell concedes, but further admits, "I don't know what my type is."
DeGeneres graciously offers to help out Anderson next time she meets a guy. In the meantime, the actress tells Ellen men are just like a book – with "a beginning, middle and an end."

How to Impress Adriana Lima

Hey guys! You too can date a supermodel! In the latest GQ, Adriana Lima outlines what she looks for in a man. Take notes!

"I like jealous men. Everything has a limit, of course, but once in a while you have to stand up and say, 'I love this person.'"

"It's never OK to defend my honor by beating someone up. You have to control yourself, even if the other person is drunk and crazy. Just say, 'Let's go home. Let's leave.' You don't have to say a thing to him. I don't like fights. I don't like aggressive people."

"A man needs to be polite, not just to me but to everyone. I watch that. How does he treat the waiter? How does he treat the coat-check girl? How does he treat the driver? Don't give orders to these people. You don't own everything around you. Treat people with respect."

"Show me you can take care of me. Say you're taking me to dinner: I expect you to pick me up and open the car door for me. Hold the restaurant door while I enter and pull out the chair for me when I sit down. Stand up when I go to the restroom and again when I return. I love old-fashioned manners, as long as it's not forced. I can tell when it's natural or when someone is just trying to impress me."...
