Swarovski collaborates With 'Sex and the City 2'

Charlotte, Carrie, Samantha and Miranda are getting a little extra sparkle.

Swarovski has teamed with "Sex and the City 2" on accessories and jewelry for the movie, which will be presented on May 27.

Carrie's closet is bedecked with a crystal chandelier, the characters wear crystal studded minaudieres and Kim Catrall and Miley Cyrus, who makes a cameo, stand in front of a Swarovski logo-ed "step and repeat" at an event that takes place in the film.

In addition to brand placement, 800 Swarovski boutiques will adorn their shop windows in the style of the "Sex and the City" characters.

"Swarovski is the perfect fit for the fabulous foursome and represents everything the movie evokes: fashion, glamour, femininity and a strong sense of personal style," told Nadja Swarovski, vice president of international communications at Swarovski.

Horizontal lines give a slim look

HORIZONTAL stripes on clothing make us look THINNER than supposedly flattering vertical ones, new research has shown.

It lays waste to the old wives tale spread by fashion pundits that bigger people must avoid side-to-side lines.

In tests run by a university’s psychology department, people were asked to compare more than 200 pairs of pictures of women in striped dresses.

They found that when two women were the same size, the one wearing horizontal stripes appeared thinner to the viewer.

And to make the women appear the same, the one wearing a “hooped” design had to be six per cent wider than the other.

Perception expert Peter Thompson, who led the University of York study, said yesterday:
“Horizontal stripes don’t make you look fat. The one wearing the vertical stripes looks wider.”

He added:
“Horizontal stripes, if anything, make you look thinner.”

But he had good news for fans of another commonly-held belief tip — black really IS slimming.

He said:
“Wearing black is a good thing.”

THE Sun’s Fashion Editor Erica Davies writes:
“This means rugby shirts and French-style stripey T-shirts have been given the style go-ahead — but I still won’t be going horizontal.

"Can we really trust the fashion advice of scientists famous for wearing corduroy trousers and frumpy jumpers?”

Seriously sexy this season

Party mood this season is all about sparkly surfaces!

The hot trend is shiny and metallic fabrics with strasses and, even better, precious stones. Silverish, goldish with pink or red shade fabric is the hit. The mood is for moon lovers that glaze light through prism of colors.

Leather and metallic pants are the alternative to leggings, be the rock chic chick! Balmain and Givenchy will do best when dressing you for the most glamorous wild party.

Emporio Armani makes bold extravaganza moves so that you outstand in the crowd of hot people. A beret and trendy shades will give you a hot aviator look. This turns heads.

Max Azria is one of the designers to follow the ‘one-shoulder-strap’ trend. It all started off with Kate Moss’s Topshop collection of dresses and went on to Paris Hilton, Kate Bosworth, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jessica Alba.

Gucci made one-piece bikini for the summer 2008 which will cost you $770

The asymmetric one-shoulder trend looks sophisticated and ultra-chic in black. This wide strap and metal hook-like detail finishes the elegance. Swimwear is to become ultimate party wear.

Following the trend, Victoria’s Secret made single-shouldered two-pieces bikini.

Victoria Beckham To Unveil Dress Line

Victoria Beckham loved designing her denim line so much that she's decided to continue with evening wear. She'll be unveiling a new line of dresses at New York Fashion Week, or as she likes to call them, Posh Frocks!

She says,
It will be something completely different from what I've ever done. I'm just putting it together at the moment, but they will be very upscale dresses and likely will start at around $1,200 retail. I'm going to be using very expensive fabrics and finishes, lots of embroideries.

Vicky has taken inspiration from Marc Jacobs and Roberto Cavalli, and is already in talks with major department stores to sell them. Word is she has been working closely with French designer Roland Mouret on the designs. We just hope the dresses come in more than just a size zero!

Scarlett Johansson style

Vintage appeal
Scarlett looks every inch the Hollywood starlet in this gorgeous vintage number, with a pretty peach sash and matching tie-dye-effect heels.

Pretty in prints
Bright, bold and beautiful prints and a sassy pair of shoes make a funky outfit out of the ultimate wardrobe must-have, a smart pair of black trousers.

Marilyn Monroe

A white halter-neck dress embodies Scarlett's flirtation with the Monroe look. We're not sure Marilyn would approve of the quirky shoes, though.

Trend-setting shoes
The rising style-icon here goes for a dazzling turquoise dress with crystal beading set off by this summer's hottest trend, Grecian-style sandals.

Suit savvy

Scarlett treats the classic cream suit to a daring revamp for a perfect party look that is sleek, sophisticated and ultra-sexy.
