Beauty Evolution: Madonna

All hail the reigning Queen of Pop! It's easy to forget that in addition to being a worldwide pop phenom, Madonna is also a loving wife and doting mom of three, philanthropist, author, and producer - who somehow, someway keeps finding ways to reinvent herself. We wonder where she finds the time.

January 1985
Rocker chic. With a dishelved side ponytail, dewy skin, a bevy of pearls & chains, Madonna's red carpet look at the 12th Annual American Music Awards showcased her penchant for looking anything but ordinary. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

January 1987
Who's That Girl? With ghostly foundation, blood red lipstick, and poofy blonde curls, Madonna is almost unrecognizable at the 14th Annual American Music Awards.

May 1991
For the New York City premiere of her shocking documentary Truth or Dare, Madonna updated Marilyn Monroe's signature coiffed style by rocking it in an ebony hue, as opposed to platinum blonde.

January 1995
China doll. While posing for the paparazzi at the American Music Awards, Madonna donned a traditional Chinese gown and a pin-curled, platinum blonde updo, topped off with matte red lips and wing-tipped eyeliner.

September 1997
At the Los Angeles premiere of L.A. Confidential, the wide-eyed pop sensation looked more like a country singer with tight strawberry blonde curls and muted makeup.

January 2001
While attending the Hollywood premiere of Snatch with husband Guy Ritchie, Madonna opted to let her dark roots show on her sleek, shoulder-length bob.

November 2005
Having just released Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madonna turned up at the UK premiere of I'm Going to Tell You a Secret flippy blonde layers and mile-long mink lashes.

March 2008
Finally receiving the highest honor any musician could ever dream of, Madonna was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in New York City looking rather prim, compared to some of her former looks. She accepted her award wearing shimmery makeup and fluffy blonde curls.
