Large balloons and big stars set the scene at the National Board of Review Awards, which were held Wednesday night at Cipriani. Bvlgari once again sponsored the event and dazzling jewels abounded. But the starry décor and sparkling stones were matched only by the parade of a-list celebs in attendance. The always poised
Anne Hathaway, who was awarded Best Actress for her role in
Rachel Getting Married, wore Chanel for the occasion. Hathaway chatted with a Giambattista Valli clad
Amy Adams. “Amy and her fiancé,
Zooey Deschanel and her fiancé and I all went on a couples date, we had the best time,” Hathaway told a fellow guest. Adams was part of the Best Ensemble Cast for
Doubt, which also included
Meryl Streep,
Phillip Seymour Hoffman and
Viola Davis.
Salma Hayek wore Yves Saint Laurent to accept an award on behalf of
Penelope Cruz, for her role in
Vicky Christina Barcelona.
Diane Lane played a supported role to her leading man
Josh Brolin, who was awarded Best Supporting Actor for his role in
Milk. Others came out to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the NBR, including host
Whoopi Goldberg, Heather Graham, Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber and
Regis Philbin. A jovial feel dominated the room with the venue’s iconic bellinis flowing. While others were still enjoying cocktails,
Tim Robbins and
Eva Amurri sat down to enjoy their salads. And many of the centerpieces were pilfered before the event even starting. With dvds, books, cds and other paraphernalia film lovers had a feeding frenzy, a refreshing occurrence for an insider crowd.
